NUTRITION: the process of providing or obtaining the food necessary for health and growth.
The meaning of good nutrition is when the body receives all of the nutrients, vitamins and minerals it requires to work at its best. This is achieved by planning all meals to include complex carbohydrates, lean protein, healthy fats, vitamins, and minerals; also referred to as “nutrient-dense foods”, and to successfully develop a balanced diet that can target weight loss and, when goals are met, weight management.
It is important to keep in mind that what works for one person may not work another. Different people have specific goals for their healthy journey (i.e., age, physical activity, healthy concerns (high blood pressure, diabetes), different dietary preferences (vegan, pescatarians). Shelley Health and Wellness is here to coach and provide each individual client with a healthy-balanced nutritional recommendation that fit his or her goals and lifestyle.
A healthy diet alone is only part of the puzzle. We like to say it is about Nutrition AND Exercise. One without the other will not help you meet your goals for your health.
